Exxon Mobil's warm-fuzzy scientist / humanitarian commercials

Exxon's recent commercials try to put a human spin on their work. Yet they are still fundamentally an oil company earning the biggest profits in the United States. Can someone shed light on what they're actually doing to change their business to be more humanitarian? Right now the commercials transmit more of a warm-fuzzy feeling than anything substantial. Is it all marketing?
