Discover Card - "Peggy" Commercials

Discover must have a great customer service operation they're trying to promote... in any case these are funny with the Russian guy who goes by "Peggy":

"Are you saying 'yes' or are you asking 'yes'?": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFXHEApQ7hA
"So pretty": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HafE-OguidY

Bonus, a really old Discover Card commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAyLP702un8

  1. Notice one whom speaks English with a "Russian" or "Arabic" sounding accent on T.V is almost always the "criminal" , and companies as Discover should refrain in engaging in such stereotypes if they want to do business world-wide.

  2. It's not a criminalization as much as a statement about common outsourcing of customer service operations. Please, you should pick your battles.

  3. No kidding. Get a sense of humor. What makes you think "Peggy" is a criminal in these commercials. I think you're projecting. I love these ads.

  8. In these commercials all I see is a white guy scamming black people. This is so far from reality as to be funny. Kind of like those security system commercials that always show the criminal as some white guy (never a black guy).

  9. Discover is right on with their "Peggy" commercials. Though a racist commercial that I'm surprised they're allowed to continue, I don't know how many times I've had to ask a customer service rep to please repeat themselves because I can't understand a word they're saying only to eventually be "accidentally" disconnected after waiting 15 minutes or more to finally get to a rep. The "Peggy commercials tell it like it is. "Peggy" would have made a great debut commercial on the Super Bowl. Go Peggy!

  11. I love the ads and I love "Peggy" himself. He's adorable. What makes the ads funny and endearing (to me, at least) is that "Peggy" is so cheerful. I just don't see racism in it.

  12. Why do you "assume" that everything is about race - it isn't!!!! These commercials poke fun at the standard of Customer Service we have been force to get accustomed to for several years. It's about time someone recognized it & aimed to do something about it. Discover is advertising great customer service & nothing else. "Peggy" is Awesome!!!!

  13. These are simply funny, not making accusations at a race or nationality. These people are simply using entertainment to get us to watch their comercials and talk about them to others. Unfortunately; some of this hits close to home with some service providers.

  14. Amazing how pc everyone has become , so afraid to hurt anyones feelings. They were actually being pc because everyone knows that help desks are always in India, nor Russia. They were afraid of using Habib from India which is what you get when calling many dsl help desks. How about the home security ads which only have a white guy breaking into the home as mom presses the panic button.....reverse dicrimination and reverse reality for sure.
